How to study for a math test
Do problems, do not read notes
Rereading feels productive and builds almost nothing. Redoing problems with the answers covered is what actually moves it into recall.
Sort them by whether you could start
Work through the chapter review. Three piles: got it, got it with a hint, no idea. Spend all your time on the third pile, then the second.
Write your own cheat sheet
Even when you are not allowed one in the test. Deciding what is worth putting on a single page is most of the revision.
Mixed beats blocked
Twenty quadratics in a row teaches you to repeat one method. Twenty mixed problems teaches you to choose one, which is what a test asks.
