Separable equations

Spot it

dy/dx is a function of x times a function of y, like dy/dx = x²y³ or dy/dx = eˣ/y.

Separate, then integrate

Move every y (with dy) to one side and every x (with dx) to the other. Then integrate both sides.

One + C is enough

Put a single constant on the x side. Two constants on two sides combine into one anyway.

Then the initial condition

Put in the given point to find C, then solve for y if you can. Watch ∫ dy/y: it is ln|y|, not a power rule.
